Wake up early for an optional hot-air balloon ride over Luxor. Travel to the launch site before sunrise and enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Nile Valley, Luxor’s temples, agricultural fields and surrounding desert as the sun rises over the landscape. After landing, return to the cruise boat for breakfast. Later, visit the West Bank of Luxor, including the magnificent Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs were buried. Continue to the impressive Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Stop to admire the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Return to the cruise for lunch and begin sailing south toward Edfu.
